Chime Blast is a single-player, music-themed match 3 game with 100 levels. You move through a sequence of island puzzles by completing each board's objectives within its move allowance. You can play the free browser game with a mouse or touch screen.
Start with the level goal
Before making a swap, read the objectives displayed above the board. A level may ask you to collect particular colors or clear obstacles. Those objectives decide whether you win; simply making a high-scoring match somewhere else may not help. The moves counter tells you how many actions remain.
There is no countdown while you decide what to do. Take a moment to inspect the full board, especially where it narrows or where an obstacle prevents pieces from falling. Different levels use different shapes, so a combination's reach depends on the spaces available.
Swap neighboring pieces to make a line
Drag a piece toward an adjacent piece, or select neighboring pieces using the game's controls. Ordinary matches require at least three pieces of the same color in a straight horizontal or vertical line. Diagonal lines and 2 × 2 squares do not count.
If your ordinary swap does not create a valid match, the pieces return to their original positions and you do not lose a move. After a valid match clears, pieces fall and new ones enter. Additional matches created by that fall form a cascade without another swap.
Turn bigger matches into musical instruments
| Pattern | What you create |
|---|---|
| Four pieces in a straight line | Wave Capsule |
| Five or more in a straight line | Prism |
| Intersecting matches in a T or L | Bass Drum |
| Wind Chime | Provided by the level, not created by a square |
You can tap an existing instrument or swap it with a neighbor to activate it. Adjacent instruments also have combined effects. The complete combination guide explains the two-instrument pairings and special three-instrument lines.
Clear cork, tape and felt
Make a match beside cork or tape, or hit it with an instrument. To clear felt, remove the ordinary piece sitting on that felt. Some obstacles need several hits, so a large explosion does not always remove every layer at once.
Look for a move that handles a target and an obstacle together. Opening a blocked area can make later moves more useful by giving falling pieces another route. For a difficult corner, an instrument may be more useful than a larger ordinary match far away.
Understand stars and chain rewards
A completed level awards up to three stars. Remaining original moves matter, and a strong cascade can add credit to your star rating. This credit does not add moves you can actually play. Extra moves obtained with coins do not count as original moves for the star calculation.
A chain is the sequence of automatic clears after a single action. The first clear is chain one. Monster actions, shuffles and the celebration after a win do not count. You can replay levels to improve your performance; the game keeps your earned progress.
Use tools when they solve a specific problem
The tool buttons below the board and the backpack offer extra ways to work on a level. Read the selected tool's description before confirming its target. Coins in the browser edition come from gameplay, and the backpack uses those game coins rather than a cash purchase.
It helps to know exactly what a tool will accomplish before spending it. If you can clear the same target with an ordinary match on the next move, saving the tool may give you more options later. Our strategy tips walk through that decision.
Continue on the same browser
The website stores progress and settings locally in your browser. Return on the same device and browser to continue. Clearing site data or using a private browsing session can remove that progress. There is no account to synchronize saves between devices.
The game uses a landscape layout; turn your phone sideways for a larger view. If you cannot hear music, interact with the game and check its sound settings; browsers can require a user gesture before playing audio. See support and troubleshooting if loading or saving does not work as expected.
